Oahu-based comedian Jose Dynamite returns to the Big Island this month for two shows.

Jose Dynamite began his comedy career as the opening act for Augie T, where he frequently performed on the Big Island. This past year, he released his debut comedy album “Something Smells Funny,” a culmination of years of hard work creating original material, with subject matter ranging from racism, relationships with his local girlfriend, experiences as a parent and grandparent, religion, and much more.

The first “Jose Dynamite and Friends” show is 8 p.m. Saturday at My Bar Kona off Luhia Street; doors open an hour prior. The next performance is May 21 at Hilo Town Tavern.

Tickets for the age 21 and over My Bar event are $10 in advance, $15 at the door. They are available at Matsuyama Food Mart off Mamalahoa Highway, Kona Wine Market, Kona Coffee & Tea Co. off Queen Kaahumanu Highway and Palani Road, Oshima Surf in Kealakekua and Kailua-Kona, and My Bar.

Tickets for the Hilo show are $10 in advance, $15 at the door. They can be purchased at Blane’s Drive Inn Industrial and Hilo Town Tavern. Doors open at 7 p.m., show starts at 8.
